Easter Fun!

We had a wonderful Easter weekend. We kicked it off on Saturday with some fun with the Martinez family. We got together for some lunch and then the fun began. We let Jacob and Abi dye some eggs for an easter egg hunt. The kids had a great time throwing the eggs into the little cups with the dye-we would see a splash of color and then hear the crack of the eggs, it was pretty funny. The kids came away quite clean though, I was surprised. Abi liked to stick her fingers in it and then into her mouth, so she ended up with some new colors on her face, but other than that she was clean.

Once the eggs were dry Steve and Jake went and hid them in the yard and then the hunt began. The kids loved this part. Abi was funny though, she only wanted the real eggs, none of the plastic ones filled with candy. She would pick a plastic one up and realize what it was and then put it back down. It didn't take them long to get all the eggs. It was a fun little gathering.

Saturday night the Easter Bunny visited us. He forgot to wipe his feet off before coming in though, so our apartment was filled with bunny tracks leading to where he hid all the goodies for the kids. He hid their baskets and a little plastic bowling set. Abi was so excited to wake up and find the prints leading from her bed all the way out into our living room and to her goodies. The kids had a great time looking through their baskets and playing with their new treasures.

Then it was time to get ready for church. The girls looked so cute in their new dresses and fun tights. Church was great! I always love the Easter messages in church. I got to teach my Primary class about the resurrection and it was great to see how much they already knew about it and it was fun to help them understand that we don't celebrate easter because of bunnies and eggs, although those are very fun parts of it, but we celebrate it because Jesus rose from the dead and made it possible for all of us to do that as well. I love watching little kids really start to understand things like this, it's so wonderful!
