Nauvoo part 2

So our first full day there we decided to start off at the Nauvoo Visitor Center since we needed some direction. There was so much we wanted to see but we weren't sure where to begin. This turned out to be the perfect way to start because they told us of a few things we didn't know about and reminded us about some things that we wanted to do but didn't realize we needed to get tickets in advance (like the wagon ride and Rendezvous in Nauvoo).

First matter of business??? Put the wheel back on the stroller :D What a handyman!

After we got some direction from the sweet missionaries in the visitors center our first priority was the Family Living Center. We got to see how the pioneers made candles, how the baked bread, and the kids' favorite part...rope making! They got to participate in this one and they thought it was so fun! We even got to bring a rope home for our family.

Then the four younger ones had to help while Jenna continued to turn that big wheel. Lydia and Emma needed a bit more help than the others, but we got it done.

Then the boy scouts had to wrap this string around it and tie some knots to keep the rope from falling apart. It was a race between Steve and Tim...I can't remember who won all of a sudden-Corrine, do you know?

We had a great time here! We would have stayed longer to see them with show us a few more things but we had to hurry and get the kids fed before our much anticipated Wagon Ride tour of Nauvoo. There is NO WHERE to eat right in Nauvoo so we were so happy to have a hotel room with a kitchen in it. So we ran back to our room and made lunch, cleaned up and headed back out for more fun.
