Our Christmasy trip to the city
Yesterday we decided to brave it and head down to NYC to enjoy some of the Christmas things there...we're this close to the city, we'd be crazy not to.
We took the train down to Grand Central. It was Emma's first train ride, how exciting!!! Well, not really, she was in the stroller and slept most of the way, but that was fine with us.
Once we got down there we headed to Macys to see Santa. This was so cute! What a set up they have there...you get at the end of this really long line and board a train (well, not really, you just walk through what looks like a train, but still cute!) to the North Pole. Once you get to the Train station there you have a bit of a walk still, but it's not too bad...you see lots of wildlife, Santa's sleigh, some elves, etc. Then the big moment, you're greeted by some elves that make sure you're on the nice list before you can see Santa and then you're taken to him for some pics. This was Abi's least favorite part, but we got some pics anyway.
After Santa it was off to Chipotle for some lunch and then over to Rockefeller Plaza to see the tree. This place was a MAD HOUSE!!! Wow, it was crowded, but that's to be expected a few days before Christmas. We actually decided to take the elevator ride up to the "Top of the Rock" as they call it. It was quite a view, it would have been more enjoyable but we were about 2 hours past Abi's nap time and she was out of control! When we got out of the elevator we had Abi in the stroller and I told her to lay back and close her eyes, well, within about 10 seconds flat she was out cold!!! This was nice, we walked back to Grand Central. When we got there a fun little light show started that Emma was intrigued with. We watched that for a few minutes and then boarded the train for home.
It was kind of a long day, but we had a great time and are really glad we went.
