Yard Work

I don't know about where you live, but out here in PA weeds grow almost visibly. It's crazy...one day you'll pull out all the weeds and the next morning there is clover almost covering your garden again. It's OBNOXIOUS! We let our garden get SO overgrown last summer, it was just impossible to stay on top of. Well, we decided to get ahead of the game this year. We ordered a whole bunch of new top soil and a whole bunch of mulch to squash out the weeds. After a week or two of weeding we were finally ready to get this stuff. It was delivered bring and early one Saturday afternoon and we got right to work. We worked like crazy ALL day long and we were still only half way done. After about 3 weeks of slowly chipping away at it (it was too hard for me to try to do it during the week when Steve was gone because Jason would literally throw the mulch OUT of the garden as quickly as I could put it IN the garden. So we had to tag team on the weekends and evenings) we used it all up. Our front yard is ALL done and one of the big gardens in the back is done. It has worked like a charm! We get the occasional random weed, but nothing even close to last year. It's so much easier to stay on top of it. Now I just need to go buy some pretty flowers and it'll look complete.

The kids, especially Jason, thought these huge mounds of dirt and mulch were heavenly! They got filthy, but we were able to get lots done that first day.

That's 4 yards worth of dirt and 4 yards worth of mulch you're looking at there.

Just a day or two prior, you couldn't even see the dirt in this garden, it was completely overrun by weeds. It took A LOT of time to clean out!
This is a shot of the first garden that we finished. I love how clean and pristine it looks!
Now we just need to get working on the backyard-not sure how long that'll take, but we'll get there! Feels great once it's done though.
