We just found out that President Hinckley, the Prophet leading the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints, passed away last night at his home at age 97. What a remarkable life this man has led in the service of the church. We loved listening to him speak whenever we had a chance, he was so inspired by Heavenly Father as to the things he taught the members of our church-he always had a wonderful spirit about him. We will miss hearing him speak, we will miss his great sense of humor-he always told jokes during his talks-what a great attribute of this great leader (I think). He was truly a man called of God to lead and guide the church.
He taught us and encouraged us in many ways. He loved the Temple and made is possible for so many more people to go by building and announcing the building of so many Temples. He encouraged us to get out of debt, to have food storage, to have savings. He challenged every member of the Church to read the Book of Mormon all the way through. All of this he did at an age that many people don't live to even see-let alone be traveling around the world, going non stop. What an amazing man!!!
We had the great opportunity to be in his ward when we were living in downtown Salt Lake. It was such an honor to be able to stand as he and President Faust would enter Sacrament Meeting every Sunday. We could just feel his Spirit as he entered the room. We also had the opportunity to speak in Sacrament Meeting one Sunday while he was there. I thought I was going to be terrified to speak in front of him, but when he came up on the stand he looked over at us, smiled and waved, and this calm just came over me. He was also there the Sunday that we blessed Abi, hopefully she will realize as she gets bigger what a neat experience that was for all of us!
Thank you President Hinckley for all that you have taught us and all that you have done for the church! We will miss you!

What a wonderful man he was. He will truly be missed
It was very special to have him there at Abi's blessing, and that they released Steve from his calling and to see him raise his hand in thanks, that was neat too. He will be missed, but how wonderful for him to be with his wife again, and Heavenly Father, and Jesus Christ.
