RR, only in NYC

What a fun day I had yesterday!!! I dropped the girls off EARLY at Allison Martinez's home and headed over to catch a train with Amanda Detling headed for NYC. Amanda had requested tickets to the Rachael Ray Show and got them for a taping yesterday. She was nice enough to send out an invitation and I was quick to respond.

We got there early to stand in line since they oversell tickets incase people don't show up. Once we got inside it was fast moving, they herded us through some metal detectors, loaded us into an elevator and emptied us out into a blindingly orange hallway.

Then they led us into a waiting room but instead of waiting there, they were ready for us to enter the studio. We got in line and headed in. The studio was a lot smaller than I was envisioning-it was circular and had about 5 different stages/set ups and the audience's seats were on a "lazy susan" as Rachael kept referring to it. We noticed they were sitting people sporatically throughout the seats, so when they got to Amanda, Darleen and me we were shocked when they sat us down in THE FRONT ROW! It was pretty cool!

They taped a show and a half, so we got to see 2 celebrities-the first one being Mark Consuelos-Kelly Ripa's husband.

The second one was Ricki Lake.

Not the most exciting celebs in my book, but it was still loads of fun. Then she did some cooking and someother segments and about 3 hours later and after tons of clapping and cheering we were outta there.

What a great day! It's fun to see how it works "behind the scenes" of these types of shows. They have an emcee that keeps the audience pumped up between segments-he was weird, but he did a good job keeping the energy up in there. It was also nice having a day off of being a mommy-it was much needed! Thanks again Allison for watching the girls and thanks again Amanda for the ticket to the show.

Why are you having a rough day today? That was lot of fun--very different from the usual mommy duties. Lucky we live so close to the city. I watched Rachael today and now have a totally different perspective on the whole show. Wish we could of won more loot--that trip would of been nice. What time did you guys get home?

that's fun. I thought it would be fun to do something like this- like Oprahs favorite thing show. She always gives away really good things.
