No naps for me!

Lately, Abi prides herself on being a big girl. Mostly because we tell her that all the time when she wants a bottle or when we're trying to encourage her to use the potty. Along with "big girl" status comes the no naps, she refuses to lie down in her bed to take a nap. Well I have found the secret. Since she's a big girl, she can only have her milk (in a sippy cup, of course) while she's lying on the couch in the afternoon...this is what happens every time...

I lay her down once Emma's down for her nap, turn on a show, leave the room and wait...This is what I find when I come back about 15 minutes later. (I know, I know, she's two-what's she doing with the binky-we're getting there-one step at a time.)

Nobody let her know my secret, it's working out soooo nicely!

Whatever works, right? I just sat and scratched Zach's arm until he fell asleep since he hadn't napped in 2 days. And don't worry about the binkie. If she needs it to help sleep for a little bit longer, who does it hurt? She is still little, if she takes it to Kindergarten, then we will make fun of you.

Do whatever creative things you have to so they can nap. And I agree with Kat. Who cares if she still has the bink....she'll be fine and will get rid of it soon. When Amanda started chewing holes in hers, we put it in the garbage and watched the garbage man take it away. That way, he was the bad guy. Thanks for taking the fall, garbage guy!

I use that trick all the time. That, and "oh, you don't want to take a bath? Ok, well, let's watercolor on the walls of the tub instead. Just climb on in. . . "

I hate this time. Good luck with keeping things going. Don't give in!! Studies suggest most kids should keep having naps until 3yrs of age.
