Reasons not to go to sleep-according to a 3 and 4 year old

Last night we had my sister's daughter, Aubrey, sleepover. It was fun, but starting around 8:15 and ending around 10:30 we heard almost every excuse in the book-plus a few funny ones I had never thought of before-as to why they couldn't-or shouldn't to be more precise-go to bed. Here is a sampling of the reasons why a 3 year old and a 4 year old shouldn't go to bed before 10:30:

~The ball has spots on it! (I still don't know what that one means!)

~I was trying to go to sleep but Abi keeps waking me up! (that one I can believe)

~We're playing hide-and-seek with the balls

~I miss my mommy! (this one I can relate to, I left many a sleep-overs because of this reason)

~I still have a little bit of energy left in me!

~I'm looking to see if my mommy's coming to bring me my music box.

~We forgot to brush our teeth! (oops, that one was my fault)

~We're having fun!

~I'm thirsty, I need a drink.

~I need a popsicle, my throat hurts.

~I'm bleeding, I need a band-aid.

~We're sweltering!

~My feet escaped from under the blanket, can you put them back under?

It was so funny! Normally I would be getting stressed out about the kids not going to bed, but they were just having so much fun and it was entertaining to Steve and me to hear all of their funny excuses. But then right as they were calming down and ready to finally go to sleep I hear Abi turn to Aubrey and tell her,"Aubrey, it's great having a sleepover, it makes me so happy!" It was so sweet and worth waiting the 2 hours to hear!

Thanks again! I recognize a few of those excuses. For some reason my girls are never warm anymore, or even hot- they go right to sweltering!

Kids are so funny! I swear I hear a list of excuses every night.

And congrats on the pregnancy! Sorry to hear you've been sick. I was SO sick, too. My doctor finally prescribed something they give to cancer patients for nausea. It worked pretty well, actually. Anyway, I think it means you're going to have a boy.
